About FiatAllis
Production of Fiat construction equipment started at the Fiat plant in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 1971. FiatAllis Fiat Allis was born in 1974 as a joint venture between the Italian Fiat company, and American Company Allis Chalmers. FiatAllis North America became the American subsidiary of Italy's Fiat S.P.A. In 1986 was awarded an $8.2 million contract for 133 American military construction tractors. Fiat Allis excavators originated from O&K. FiatAllis model FR120 FR120.2, FR140 FR140.2, FR180 FR180.2 wheel loader were largely the creation of Fiat Allis themselves, while FiatAllis model FR130 FR130.2, FR160 FR160.2, FR220 FR220.2 Wheel Loaders originated from Fiat-Hitachi aka Fiat Hitachi. Today, Fiatallis is part of New Holland, CNH Case New Holland.
About Fiat Hitachi aka Fiat-Hitachi
Although little is known about the joint venture between Hitachi and Fiat, New Holland at some point rolled up FiatAllis into Fiat-Hitachi to gain a wider share of construction products in the 1990s. Then in late 1994, TCM wheel loaders decided to join the venture to replace the outdated FiatAllis line of wheel loaders, with the new TCM line of wheel loaders. They began production under the FiatAllis, and Fiat-Hitachi brand name at the FiatAllis plant in Lecce, Italy. TCM originally entered the wheel loader business several years earlier through a license from Clark-Michigan aka Clark Michigan. The bottom line, of the equipment manufacturers mentioned, all but Hitachi is now owned by CNH.
About Hitachi
The Japanese Hitachi Ltd. Corporation ranks among the 50 biggest enterprises in the world. Primarily known as an electronic enterprise, Hitachi produces as well construction equipment starting in December of 1984 under the name Hitachi Construction Machinery: crawler excavator and wheeled excavator of all sizes, telescopic working platforms, wheel loaders, off highway and since the uptake of Euclid as well off-highway trucks for plant and building. Hitachi became, little by little, a full line manufacturer for machinery, after ending the cooperation with Fiat aka Fiat-Hitachi.
About O&K ORENSTEIN AND KOPPEL
O&K, Orenstein & Koppel Aktiengesellschaft, was a German manufacturer of hydraulic excavators and construction equipment until acquired in 1997 by CNH New Holland North America. They manufactured O&K excavators under the Fiatallis name brand. O&K had a long tradition of sophisticated design and exceptional quality, as did FiatAllis.
In 1998 New Holland Construction, the North American construction division, introduced a full line of O&K hydraulic excavators in North America. O&K also supplied New Holland Construction with hydrostatic wheel loaders. In Latin America, New Holland sold O&K hydraulic excavators under the Fiatallis brand name in selected markets like Brazil. In Europe, O&K maintained its own distribution network and continued to market its product line under the O&K brand name. New Holland strengthened the O&K organization with a rapid expansion of its research and development activity after the acquisition.
Founded in Berlin in 1876, O&K began building excavators in 1908, and quickly established a reputation for innovation in excavator design and manufacture. The company designs and manufactures both crawler and wheeled excavators. O&K is the industry leader in grader technology, and is well known for both large wheel loaders and hydrostatic wheel loaders. The company employs about 2,000 people across Europe and generated sales of approximately 800 million (DM) in 1998.
New Holland is a world leader in the design and manufacture of a full line of agricultural and construction equipment, like wheel loader, excavator, skid steer loader, grader, dump truck hauler, mini compact excavator, and more. New Holland is a global full line construction equipment brand bringing together the knowledge and experience of its heritage brands like Fiat Kobelco, Kobelco, O&K, New Holland Construction and Fiatallis, Fiat-Hitachi, Fiat-Kobelco. New Holland is supported by more than 700 dealers with over 1600 outlets in more than 100 countries, plus the strength and resources of its world-wide commercial, industrial, product support and finance organisations.
